“A culture within a culture. She is shattered by a mortal wound to the heart. Still she lives. As the Dakota Indian says, ‘A nation is not conquered ‘till the heart of its women are on the ground.’ The bottom half of the border is from the black-and-white movies when the Indian was always the bad man. The top half is the inhumanity of the present culture.
